The project aims to define the city of Reggio Calabria as a Mediterranean cultural capital through the realization of two characteristic buildings: a museum and a multifunctional building for performing arts.

"The new library and learning center rises as a polygonal block from the center of the new university campus. The design takes the form of a cube with both inclined and straight edges. the straight lines of the building’s exterior, separate as they move inward, becoming curvilinear and fluid, generating a free-formed interior canyon that serves as the central public plaza. All the other facilities of the LLC are housed within a single volume that also divides, becoming two separate ribbons that wind around each other to enclose this glazed gathering space… I am delighted to be working in Vienna as I have a close affiliation with the city. As a centre of research, the Library and Learning Centre is forum for the exchange of ideas. It is very exciting for us to be part of the University’s expansion."Zaha Hadid architectsThe university of economics and business, Viennamore @+MOOD: Library and Learning Centre in Vienna, Won by Zaha Hadidan-architecture: International Austria. It is difficult to ignore the designs of Pritzker Prize winning architect Zaha Hadid. Bold, brave, often controversial - her ambitious experiments in form always seem to stir discourse and debate. Hadid’s design for the new civil courts building in Madrid is no exception. Planned as part of the new Campus de la Justicia at Valdebebas in the Spanish capital city, Hadid’s Civil Court is expected to become a focal point among works from Norman Foster, IM Pei and others. While we are not always big fans of Hadid’s obsession with form, we are intrigued by the “intelligent” façade of this Madrid courthouse, that in addition to being extremely eye-catching, is intended to regulate the building’s indoor environment.
After Zaha's much trumped-up by kind of 'eh' ski lift thingy, she continues to rock out in Innsbruck, Austria (as one does) by doing a whole system full of stations. Out of concrete and swoopy white glass. Pictured. Yeah, just scroll down that link alone for pictured swoopy white glass goodness. And if that doesn't do it for you, check out the crazy light show from the grand opening of the system.
Seems that Karl Lagerfeld is taking his job as artistic director of Chanel quite literally. His latest project? The Mobile Art container, which is to roam the world from 2008 to 2010 bearing installations by 18 international artists. But the real showstopper is bound to be the container itself: a Zaha Hadid-designed U.F.O. made of gleaming-white fiberglass with a ring of interactive exhibition space inside. Lagerfeld dreamed up the project after a chance encounter with Hadid in the lobby of the Mercer Hotel in New York; impressed by the starchitect’s ability to detach herself from “the totalitarianism of the Bauhaus,” he hoped that together they could reinvent the notion of a gallery while creating a spectacle that would align Chanel with contemporary art and design. The project’s curator, Fabrice Bousteau, calls it “a research investment.” Lagerfeld has already deemed it money well spent: “We could have inundated the world with ads,” he said. “But it is a more noble project.” By MONICA KHEMSUROV NYT
